Allergy Alert Classrooms

On occasions, such as student birthdays, baked goods often arrive to school on the day of the event (e.g., cupcakes for a birthday). While we all love surprises, this type of surprise poses a problem when considering safety and the enjoyment of all students in an allergy alert room. Should parents plan on sending treats for special days like birthdays, kindly provide the teachers with two or three days advanced notice, as well as a list of ingredients that are in the finished product, so that provisions may be made for allergy students. For some students, even the smell of the offending food can cause a severe reaction or death. Should no prior knowledge of foods be made available, parents may be asked to take the food back home, Alternate items to baked goods could be fuit or veggie plates, or favours such as stickers, fancy pencils, etc. Thanks so much for your cooperation.
